Wood siding and block stucco are two different jobs.
Both stand on the same streets in St. Pete. The prep on a 1925 bungalow looks nothing like the prep on a 1965 ranch, and the estimate says which one you have.
Bungalows, ranches and the grid between them
St. Petersburg is the biggest city in the county and it has the widest range of houses. The Old Northeast, Kenwood and the streets near downtown are craftsman bungalows and cottages from the twenties and thirties with wood siding, wood trim and deep porches. West of there it turns into mile after mile of concrete block ranch homes from the fifties and sixties.
Wood is a different job from stucco. Loose paint has to be scraped, bare wood primed, every seam caulked and every nail head set and filled before a finish coat goes anywhere near it. That is hours rather than minutes, and skipping it is why old siding peels again inside two years.
Block and stucco has the opposite problem. The walls are usually sound and the failures live at the openings, where old caulk dried out and let water in around a window. Sealing those joints properly is most of what makes the repaint last.

Historic districts and what they care about
Some St. Pete neighborhoods are designated historic, and the rules there care about the outside of the house. Paint color alone usually does not need a review, but replacing wood trim, siding or a porch rail can. We will ask before touching anything that might, and we would rather you check with the city than find out after.
A bungalow porch is where the wood work shows. Tongue and groove porch ceilings, turned posts, window casings with a hundred years of paint on them. Anything soft gets replaced, the rest gets scraped and primed, and the trim gets brushed rather than sprayed so the profile stays crisp.
Wood staining and varnishing are on our profile, and in these houses that often means a front door or an interior stair rail that is worth bringing back rather than painting over.
Apartments, units and the turn
St. Pete has more apartments and rental houses than anywhere else in the county, and turning them between tenants is a regular job for us. Walls, ceilings, doors and the drywall dings the last tenant left, done to a finish date because an empty unit is a bill.
